Call for collective submissions
The editors of the Hispanic American Historical Review announce their interest in receiving collective submissions of multiple (three or more) article-length manuscripts on a common theme, topic, or historical question. Such submissions might originate in conference panels, working groups, or any other form of scholarly collaboration. Authors wishing to submit manuscripts together should begin by sending abstracts of the essays, accompanied by a short (250 words) explanation of the significance of the common topic the essays address, to the managing editor at hahr@pitt.edu.
Call for papers on Latin American/Caribbean environmental history
In preparation for a special issue on Latin American/Caribbean environmental history, the Hispanic American Historical Review invites submission of article-length manuscripts on the causes, processes, and/or consequences of environmental change and its societal impacts. In reviewing those submissions, the journal’s editors will seek essays that advance this emerging field through (a) case-studies based on rich empirical evidence; or (b) the integration of environmental history with other fields in the discipline (e.g., agrarian, cultural, economic, urban); or (c) the examination of the region’s environmental history from comparative or global perspectives. Scholars interested in submitting manuscripts should send an abstract, not to exceed 500 words, clearly explaining how your work advances current scholarly understandings of environmental history in the region, to the managing editor, hahr@pitt.edu. Deadline for submission of abstract: September 1, 2008. On the basis of their review of those abstracts, the editors will invite full-length manuscripts, which will by due by February 1, 2009, and will undergo the journal’s normal process of peer review.
